Remembering 2007

When looking back, it's amazing to see the changes and growth our family has gone through. Evan went from crawling, to walking, to running. He keeps us very active with no time to catch our breath. Evan also learned his first words in 07', including "mas, agua, baila, mama, papi, chucho, adios, and gracias." The only English word he knows is MINE! His favorite hobbies consist of dancing, playing with his cars, and getting into everything he possibly can. He has taught us much patience and how to love unconditionally. We are so blessed to have been given this beautiful child of God who brings the spirit of the Lord into our home with his smile, laughter, and hugs.
Will continues to work hard on attaining his Bachelor's degree, and will be graduating May of 2008. He's a very dedicated student and has enjoyed studying International Relations and Latin American literature and culture. Despite his busy school and work schedule, he always makes time for his family, and is looking forward to the day when he can just "chill" and hang out with the fam. In May, Will was able to reunite with his extended family in El Salvador that he had not seen for 12 years. Linda and Evan got to see where Will grew up as a child, eat some good seafood, visit some beautiful sites, and spend time getting to know his fun-loving family. We had some good laughs when they all shared stories about Will's travesuras. Linda's parents met up with them in El Salvador and together they road tripped across the border to Guatemala and visited Antigua, Lago Atitlan, Rio Dulce, and Tikal. Guatemala was amazing with so much culture, history, and some breathtaking views. Will can't wait to go down there again to hang out with the family and eat their tropical fruits.
Linda has gone from being a stay-at-home mom to becoming a "sugar mama." At first she was excited to move on with her social work career and interact with individuals her own age, but soon after she started working she realized what she was really missing out on. However, she continues to work in support of helping Will get through school so that they may move on to bigger and better things. In September Linda participated in her first triathlon along with her two brothers and dad. She trained for months cycling, swimming, and running only to get through the swim portion of the race. The race was then canceled due to rain and lightning. Linda was disappointed, but still felt a sense of accomplishment for having worked hard in her training to prepare for the event. She plans to continue with her training and sign-up for another triathlon next year.
The biggest surprise of the year was to find out that we would be adding another member to the family in May 08'. We are thrilled to announce that it's a GIRL! Even though Evan doesn't understand how his life will change, we are sure that he'll be excited to have a playmate and will be a loving and caring older brother. Who knows what else 2008 will bring, but we will take on each trial and blessing as a family and only allow then to strengthen and unite us.
